An Anti-Ragging Orientation Workshop was conducted as per Dental Council of India (DCI) norms on 29th April 2023 where UG students, Interns, parents, Hostel Wardens, Police personnel from Local Police Station, HODs, faculty members, Security Officers of the BBD Campus and members of Anti-Ragging committee attended the Workshop.
Dr Neelam Mittal (DCI member), Professor and Head, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Faculty of Dental Sciences, BHU, Varanasi was invited as the Guest Speaker to apprise and sensitize the participants regarding the menace of ragging in colleges and the consequences and how to get help from concerned agencies.
The function started with the address by Principal, Prof Dr Puneet Ahuja and introduction and welcome of the Guest Speaker, Prof Neelam Mittal with a floral bouquet.
This was followed by a welcome address by Dr Hemant Gupta, HOD, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, BBDCODS and Chairman of the Anti-Ragging Committee.
Dr Neelam Mittal presented a comprehensive overview on the ill effects of Ragging and its serious implications. She emphasized implementation of anti-ragging activities and discussed regarding enforcement of zero tolerance towards ragging. She also explained what constitutes ragging, different types of ragging and how to get help from concerned agencies like Anti-Ragging helpline, College Anti-Ragging Committee, etc.
An interactive two-way communication was established between the speaker and the participants where the doubts and queries of the students and parents were clarified. Suggestions from the parents and guardians were noted.
The workshop ended with a Vote of Thanks and presentation of a Memento to the Guest Speaker for the time and efforts taken to conduct the Anti-Ragging Workshop
